Gotta Love Hitch

'Rear Window' poster for view out of our rear window. Clever?

Anchor Hocking

I feel like such a space cadet. I THOUGHT I purchased this lot of Anchor Hocking mugs...for $15. Yeah, right. Make that 1 Anchor Hocking mug. At least it is the green one. Earth to Brooke. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchor_Hocking

DVD Collection, Enhanced & Comments

Just added the following to our ever-growing Film Library (soon to be expanding closets):
  • The Accidental Tourist (1988)
  • All the President's Men (1976)
  • Breaking and Entering (2006)
  • Revolutionary Road (2008)
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
  • Zodiac (2007) - as our original copy mysteriously disappeared
  • The Sorcerer (1977) - can't wait to introduce David to this masterpiece

The Accidental Tourist really resonated with me as a child (aka ~15 - I've always been a little behind that age curve). The Accidental Tourist was a very important film to me. If you know anything about the story, this is kind of a sad thing to admit. But you know me, never afraid to reveal anything that might be totally embarrassing.

Next project: Putting some kind of order - besides pretty verticle stacks - to these hundreds (thousands ?) of DVDs.

The Laundress

Mother, you will be happy to read that I made a 'Laundress' purchase. Remember that wonderful smell of lavender? Well, you can now experience that outside of the Hamptons. Lavender sachets are my new obsession, for anyone looking for b-day gift ideas.

Maggie + Bogie lolz

How did I just figure out that I can make my OWN lolz? This has quickly become a new obsession. I think you can go directly through this link to check out more of my lolz: http://cheezburger.com/pictures-by-brooklyn77/lolz

One Kings Lane

I finally made a purchase on One Kings Lane. This gorgeous and minimal Whisper 3 Piece Hostess Set by Nambe. While I feel Nambe should be used very sparingly, I felt these weren't over the top Nambe - and for $22 (looks like they typically retail for $65), I could not pass it up. One can never have too many serving pieces.

Bogie: 1 Year Later, 6lbs Lighter

So proud of my Bogie. His trip to the vet yielded a very successful weigh-in. He went from 24lbs of Big Boga Lovin' to 18lbs of Lean Mean Fightin' Boga-machine. Of course, Maggie was perfect (she also lost ~1lb). Our only follow-up: Bogie will be receiving a $450 teeth cleaning in late September. I continue to single-handedly keep this economy going.

Urban Remains: 1st Purchase

We finally made it to Urban Remains and purchased this lovely little Fire Escape sign. Don't you love the crisp font? Thankfully I'm married to a handy guy and it only took 2 trips to Home Depot in order to perfectly plant this above our back door. http://www.urbanremainschicago.com/

Object of Desire: Citroen 2CV

"the most intelligent application of minimalism ever to succeed as a car"
Why can't I like anything that's not ultimately going to become a total headache?

Still Love: Enjoy the Silence Video

Elephant Bottle Opener

My sweetheart husband picked this (^) up for me on his way home from a meeting today. I saw this last night on the Anthro website and loved it. Nothing like a well-designed bottle opener and a thoughtful husband to brighten up a hot August Monday.

Hurt Locker

Not ending this film at the jack-in-the-box scene really
bothers me. May have delivered a best director Oscar to a
woman for the first time. Anyway, amazingly powerful film.

Fun with Plants

Our aloe plants were becoming far too large for their homes, so we replanted them outside and purchased new ones - succulents, what else - for inside. While David has the green thumb, I add the 'flare' (ie war scene).
